Like A Fish Out Of Water!

I love watching birds soar in the sky. (especially when there is more than one and they seem to be playing tag...) Or chase the waves at the beach. They just look like they are having SO much fun! Like they are, well, doing what God created them to do! :0)

Last month, as I was reading Evan Hopkins book "The Law Of Liberty", I was struck with an illustration that he used to describe what it means to be "in Christ". I don't think I can say it any better than he did . . . ;0) . . .

"We say a creature is free when it can move in its own native element. The bird is free in the air, and the fish in the water. Take either of them out of its element, and its liberty is gone. . . . Through sin, we have lost the inner principle of life, and we have forfeited the sphere which is its true abode . . . To be "born again" is to receive that quickening; and to be "in Christ" is to be in that environment. Spiritual liberty can be known, therefore, only by those who have life, and who are abiding in Him who is the true sphere of life..."

He went on to talk about how liberty is a threefold emancipation - liberty for the mind, the conscience, and the will. Liberty for the mind comes when it is in the sphere or the environment of truth. Liberty for the conscience comes when we are reconciled to God and dwell in the sphere of His Divine peace. And the element in which the will finds its freedom is the love of God.

"As the mind finds its liberty in Him who is the truth, and the conscience in Him who is our peace, so the will finds its freedom in Him who is the embodiment of perfect love."

It all comes back to JESUS!!
